Protesting against the unseasonably high temperatures of August and September, the Ranch chickens demonstrated their displeasure against the heat by walking out on their egg laying duties until cooler days would arrive. Their protest was peaceful but effective, with egg production down slightly, until the first weeks of October when the thermometer finally met with the chickens’ demands.
